Abstract

Cytogenetic studies started during the early 1940’s with the studies of Karl Sax on the induction of chromosomal aberration in Tradescantia microspores by X-rays and later it has been applied in the study of human chromosomes. Generally the cytogenetic techniques are useful to estimate radiation doses received due to external radiation exposure it is difficult to estimate radiation doses except for certain radio-nuclides like tritium (IAEA., 1986).
