The purpose of the present paper is to present descriptions of two more new species of Myxotrichum, to illustrate their developmental morphology, and to discuss gametangial relationship among species of Myxotrichum, as far as they are known at the present time. In the first paper of this series (Kuehn, 1955) the writer has provided a detailed description of Myxotrichum uncinatum and has presented a de? scription of a new species, Myxotrichum emmonsii. This first paper, however, was concerned… Expand
Physiological studies of the Gymnoascaceae with an overview on their ecology
TLDR
The present paper reviews the physiological studies so far conducted in the family Gymnoascaceae dating back to the year 1893 and concludes that these predictions can give clues on certain taxonomical and behavioural patterns. Expand
A polyphasic contribution to the knowledge of Auxarthron (Onygenaceae)
TLDR
The analysis of ITS nrDNA sequences suggests that an extensive phylogenetic revision of the genus Auxarthron is necessary, and a preliminary evaluation of the antagonistic properties of A. umbrinum and A. concentricum against phytopathogenic fungi has been performed. Expand
Ascomatal morphogenesis in Myxotrichum arcticum supports the derivation of the Myxotrichaceae from a discomycetous ancestor.
TLDR
Observations of conidiogenesis show that the typical Oidiodendron anamorph is accompanied by a second conidiogenous form with ampullae and botryose clusters of blastic conidia, providing strong support for prior suggestions based on molecular phylogenetic comparisons that the Myxotrichaceae recently are derived from a helotialean ancestor. A NEW GENUS OF GYMNOASCACEAE
TLDR
The characteristics of the ascocarp are distinct from those of known genera, therefore it is felt that a new genus should be established to include this species. Expand
Morphology and development of the reticuloperidial ascomata of Auxarthron conjugatum.
TLDR
Findings underscore the benefit of using DNA-based phylogenies in concert with cytological and ultrastructural observations for exploring selective pressures behind homoplasious characters and revealing novel structural features. Expand
Ultrastructural Study on the Cleistothecium Development in Aspergillus nidulans
TLDR
Hülle cell formation during the cleistothecial development appeared to be somewhat coordinated with the developmental stages of Cleistothecium, which was associated with the depositing of a non-enzyme reactive material around peridial cells. Expand
THE GENERA GYMNASCELLA, ARACHNIOTUS, AND PSEUDOARACHNIOTUS
SUMMARY Three genera of the Gymnoascaceae are described and discussed. Gymnascella, a genus generally ignored since it was established, includes three species transferred from Arachniotus: G.Expand
Species of fungi of the genus Auxarthron on insects
TLDR
In most of the cases observed, these fungal species have killed their insect host. Expand
