We present new spectroscopic and photometric data on the early-type overcontact binary TU Muscae. The analysis of the spectroscopic data shows that the line of sight to the system crosses three kinematically sharp and well-separated interstellar reddening sources and that the stars rotate synchronously. We present new radial velocities that are in good agreement with earlier optical velocities and, thus, do not confirm the systematically smaller velocities obtained from IUE spectra. The optical… Expand
Observational studies of early-type binary stars: MP Centauri
We present photometric and spectroscopic data on the early-type binary MP Centauri. The photometric data are analysed simultaneously with radial velocities to derive preliminary absolute dimensionsExpand
Observational studies of early-type binary stars: VV Orionis
ABSTRACT New and previously published observations of the bright eclipsing binary VV Ori-onis areanalyzed. We presentnew radial velocitiesand interstellarreddening measure-ments from high-resolutionExpand
Tomographic Separation of Composite Spectra. XI. The Physical Properties of the Massive Close Binary HD 100213 (TU Muscae)
We present the results of a Doppler tomographic reconstruction of the UV spectra of the double-lined, O binary HD 100213 based on observations made with the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE).Expand
MY Camelopardalis, a very massive merger progenitor
Context. The early-type binary MY Cam belongs to the young open cluster Alicante 1, embedded in Cam OB3. Aims. MY Cam consists of two early-O type main-sequence stars and shows a photometricExpand
Evolutionary states of the two shortest period O-type overcontact binaries V382 Cyg and TU Mus
Up to now, V382 Cyg and TU Mus are the only two discovered O- type overcontact binary stars with periods less than two days ( P = 1.8855 and 1.3873 d). Both systems contain a visual companion. NewExpand
A photometric-spectroscopic study of the infrared-excess eclipsing binary V2364 Cyg
The eclipsing binary V2364 Cyg is an A7V-type contact binary with a period of 0.5921 days. We presented six spectra from LAMOST and BVRc light curves (LCs), which are simultaneously analyzed toExpand
Eclipsing high-mass binaries - I. Light curves and system parameters for CPD − 51° 8946, PISMIS 24-1, and HD 319702
We present the first results of a comprehensive photometric O-star survey performed with a robotic twin refractor at the Universitatssternwarte Bochum located near Cerro Armazones in Chile. For threeExpand
The Struve-Sahade effect in the optical spectra of O-type binaries I. Main-sequence systems
Aims. We present a spectroscopic analysis of four massive binary systems that are known or are good candidates to display the StruveSahade effect (defined as the apparent strengthening of theExpand
The binary merger channel for the progenitor of the fastest rotating O-type star VFTS 102
VFTS 102 has a projected rotational velocity (>500 km s(-1)) and would appear to be the fastest rotating O-type star. We show that its high rotational velocity could be understood within theExpand
Third-body parameters from whole light and velocity curves
Eclipsing binaries can improve multiple system statistics via the light-time effect and radial velocity shifts. Here an algorithm operates on data of mixed type to exploit these opportunities. MainExpand

A note on the statistics of early-type close binaries
We define adegree of contact index,Ic, and give its frequency diagram for 16 early-type close binaries. The eventual objective is to see whether the numbers of such systems are continuous orExpand
