Macrofungi lacking chlorophyll, belong to the Basidiomycetes and Ascomycetes classes. Naturally grown and cultured macrofungi are consumed as a food source also in our country. Wild macrofungi are a major source of living for forest loggers and it is exported to other countries. Macrofungi contain water (up to 95%), proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. c. Agaricus species have the highest protein and lipid content of

Antimicrobial activity and bioactive compounds of Portuguese wild edible mushrooms methanolic extracts
TLDR
The antimicrobial properties of phenolic extracts of Portuguese wild edible mushroom species (Lactarius deliciosus, Sarcodon imbricatus and Tricholoma portentosum) against pathogens were investigated and revealed that Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans were differently inhibited for the mushrooms used.
Ganodermin, an antifungal protein from fruiting bodies of the medicinal mushroom Ganoderma lucidum
TLDR
A 15-kDa antifungal protein, designated ganodermin, was isolated from the medical mushroom Ganoderma lucidum and was devoid of hemagglutinating, deoxyribonucleasing, ribonuclease and protease inhibitory activities.
Nutritional value of edible wild mushrooms collected from the Black Searegion of Turkey
Three edible wild mushrooms Cantharellus cibarius (yellow mushroom), Lactarius piperatus, and Boletus edulis were studied for chemical composition and nutritional value. The edible wild mushrooms
Studies on Chemical Composition and Nutritive Evaluation of Wild Edible Mushrooms
Agaricus bisporus and Agaricus bitorquis are among most favorite mushrooms of the world. Mineral contents, proximate composition and fatty acid profile of these mushrooms were determined for
Bioactive properties of the medicinal mushroom Leucopaxillus giganteus mycelium obtained in the presence of different nitrogen sources
TLDR
Although significant differences for mycelium growth between the nitrogen sources had not been observed, (NH4)2HPO4 proved to be the most appropriate to increase bioactive properties, leading to the highest phenol content and lowest EC50 and MIC values.
Preparation of glucan from Lentinula edodes edible mushroom and elucidation of its medicinal value.
TLDR
The results showed that the polysaccharides posses anticancer activity against human esophageal cancer cell line and enhance the immune-responses of human body thereby increasing resistance to cancer disease.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF SOME NATURALLY GROWING AND EDIBLE MUSHROOMS
Water, dried material, pH, protein, ash, lipid, cellulose, non-cellulose carbohydrate, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, P, Zn contents of 15 edible and naturally growing mushrooms from Western Black Sea Region
Antiplasmodial lanostanes from the Ganoderma lucidum mushroom.
TLDR
Seven lanostanes exhibited in vitro antiplasmodial activity with IC(50) values from 6 to greater than 20 microM and a new benzofuran derivative of the farnesyl hydroquinone ganomycin B was also identified.
Glucans from fruit bodies of cultivated mushrooms Pleurotus ostreatus and Pleurotus eryngii: Structure and potential prebiotic activity
TLDR
Oyster mushrooms are interesting as a source of biologically active glucans and potential prebiotic activity of extracts L1 and L2 was testing using nine probiotic strains of Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Enterococcus, which showed different growth characteristics dependently on used extract and strain specificity due to the presence of structurally diverse compounds.
Chemical composition and biological properties of portuguese wild mushrooms: a comprehensive study.
TLDR
Lycoperdon species were resistant to all of the tested microorganisms, and the other samples revealed antimicrobial activity selectively against Gram-positive bacteria, with very low minimal inhibitory concentration, in some cases, even lower than the standard.
