Nutritional Status of Vermicompost Produced from Weed Biomass and Rice Straw as Influenced by Earthworm Species and Seasons

Efficiency of Eisenia foetida, Amyanthes diffringens and Eudrillus eugineae in vermicomposting of plant biomass viz., rice straw, Ipomoea carnea, Eichhornia crassipes alone and in mixture was studied during summer and winter seasons. All the species were found efficient in vermicomposting of plant biomass. Time required for composting varied from 50–70 days and 55–75 days during summer and winter seasons, respectively.
