Numerical simulation study on the heat transfer characteristics of a double pipe heat exchanger

Abstract

A finite volume method model on the double-pipe heat exchanger with constant thermal flux in inner tube was established. The film convective heat transfer coefficient was obtained under the conditions of laminar flow, transitional flow and turbulent flow. The two-dimensional axial symmetry model was adopted, and the implicit format was used in discrete equations. In comparison with classic empirical formula of film convective heat transfer coefficient, the error of results in this paper was within 15%, and the model could serve the engineering practice as a reference.
