We study the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet with an antiferromagnetic ${\mathit{J}}_{3}$ (third-nearest-neighbor) interaction on a square lattice. We numerically diagonalize this ``${\mathit{J}}_{1}$-${\mathit{J}}_{3}$'' model on clusters up to 32 sites and search for ground-state properties as the frustration parameter ${\mathit{J}}_{3}$/${\mathit{J}}_{1}$ changes. For ``larger'' ${\mathit{J}}_{3}$/${\mathit{J}}_{1}$ we find enhancement of the incommensurate spin order, in agreement with…

Plaquette valence-bond crystal in the frustrated Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnet on the square lattice
Using both exact diagonalizations and diagonalizations in a subset of short-range valence-bond singlets, we address the nature of the groundstate of the Heisenberg spin-$1∕2$ antiferromagnet on the
Spinon deconfinement in doped frustrated quantum antiferromagnets
The confinement of a spinon liberated by doping two-dimensional frustrated quantum antiferromagnets with a nonmagnetic impurity or a mobile hole is investigated. For a static vacancy, an intermediate
Quantum disorder in the spatially completely anisotropic triangular lattice I: Heisenberg $S=1/2$ antiferromagnet
Spin liquids occuring in 2D frustrated spin systems were initially assumed to appear at strongest frustration, but evidence grows that they more likely intervene at transitions between two different
Modified spin-wave theory with ordering vector optimization: spatially anisotropic triangular lattice and J1J2J3 model with Heisenberg interactions
We study the ground-state phases of the S=1/2 Heisenberg quantum antiferromagnet on the spatially anisotropic triangular lattice (SATL) and on the square lattice with up to next-next-nearest-neighbor
Phase Diagram of a Frustrated Quantum Antiferromagnet on the Honeycomb Lattice: Magnetic Order versus Valence-Bond Crystal formation
We present a comprehensive computational study of the phase diagram of the frustratedS = 1=2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice, with second-nearest (J2) and third-neighbor (J3)
Broken discrete and continuous symmetries in two-dimensional spiral antiferromagnets.
TLDR
The effect of quantum and thermal fluctuations is to favour collinear correlations even in the strongly frustrated regime, according to Schwinger boson mean field theory.
Exotic phenomena in doped quantum magnets
We investigate the properties of a two-dimensional frustrated quantum antiferromagnet on a square lattice, especially at infinitesimal doping. We find that next nearest neighbour (NN) J2 and
Magnons versus free spinons in finite quantum frustrated antiferromagnets
Abstract We have investigated the validity of doping with a vacancy the J 1 – J 3 frustrated Heisenberg model on a finite square lattice as a way to test the existence of fractional spin excitations.
Quantum destruction of spiral order in two-dimensional frustrated magnets
We study the fate of spin-1/2 spiral-ordered two-dimensional quantum antiferromagnets that are disordered by quantum fluctuations. A crucial role is played by the topological point defects of the
Magnetoelastic effects and magnetization plateaus in two-dimensional systems
We show the importance of both strong frustration and spin-lattice coupling for the stabilization of magnetization plateaus in translationally invariant two-dimensional systems. We consider a
