Nudaciraxine imperium sp. n. (Monogenea: Axinidae) is described from the gills of the needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis (Rafinesque) caught in the Gulf of Gabès, Tunisia. This new species mainly differs from both previously described species, Nudaciraxine gracilis (Linton, 1940) Price, 1962 from Strongylura marina (Walbaum) and Nudaciraxine cabosanlucensis Payne, 1990 from Ablennes sp., by having more testes (42 vs. 20-22 and 32, respectively). Nudaciraxine imperium also differs from N…

A new axinid monogenean species, Axinoides euzeti n. sp. from the gills of the Mediterranean needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis (Rafinesque) off the Tunisian coast is described. The new species is
Lecithostaphylus tylosuri sp. nov. (Digenea, Zoogonidae) from the digestive tract of the needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis (Teleostei, Belonidae)
Lecithostaphylus tylosuri sp. nov. (Digenea, Zoogonidae) specimen were collected from the digestive tract of Tylosurus acus imperialis (Teleostei, Belonidae) caught off the eastern coast of Tunisia.
Diversity of monogenean parasites in belonid fishes off the Mediterranean Sea with redescription of Aspinatrium gallieni Euzet and Ktari, 1971 and Axine belones Abildgaard, 1794
TLDR
This paper enhances the current knowledge of Monogenea infecting belonids off the Mediterranean Sea by redescribing five monogenean parasites species founded infected belonid fishes from Tunisian coast and representing new host record for T. imperialis.
Parasitic infections in the Mediterranean needlefish Tylosurus acus imperialis (Teleostei: Belonidae) off Tunisian coast
TLDR
This study provides first information on parasitic infections in the Mediterranean needlefish T. acus imperialis off Tunisia and shows how parasites can be used to understand phylogeny, biology and ecology of fish host and also as bioindicators of water quality.
Sclerodistomoides pacificus Kamegai, 1971 (Sclerodistomoididae Gibson & Bray, 1979) and Tetrochetus coryphaenae Yamaguti, 1934 (Accacoeliidae Odhner, 1911), two rarely reported digeneans from Tylosurus acus imperialis (Rafinesque) (Belonidae), and a list of helminth parasites of Tylosurus acus (Lacé
TLDR
Two rarely reported digenean parasites are redescribed: Sclerodistomoides pacificus and T. coryphaenae represent new host and geographical records for T. a.
Gill metazoan parasites of tunas (Scombridae: Thunnini) from the western Mediterranean Sea: systematics, assemblages and use as biological tags
TLDR
The rich metazoan parasitofauna found in the gills of the five tuna species seems to be a promising tool to infer information on the host biology and ecology, and monogeneans can be used with some caution.
