Recently Ralston et al. [5] and Furtek et al. [2] have reported sequence comparisons of various wild-type Bronze-1 (Bzl ) alleles from Zea mays. The Bzl encoded UDP glucose:flavonol 3-0 -glucosyl-transferase catalyzes the 3-O-glycosylation of flavonoids, one of the essential steps in the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway.
