In the holographic model of QCD, baryons are chiral solitons sourced by D4 flavor instantons in bulk of size 1/\sqrt{\lambda} with \lambda=g^2*N_c. Using the ADHM construction we explicit the exact two-instanton solution in bulk. We use it to construct the core NN potential to order N_c/\lambda. The core sources meson fields to order \sqrt{N_c/\lambda} which are shown to contribute to the NN interaction to order N_c/\lambda. In holographic QCD, the NN interaction splits into a small core and a…

Holographic Deuteron and Nucleon-Nucleon Potential

We compute the potential between a pair of nucleons in the D4-D8 holographic QCD. In the large 't Hooft coupling limit, $\lambda \gg 1$, the hadronic size of the baryon is small $\sim

Nuclear Force from String Theory

We compute nuclear force in a holographic model of QCD on the basis of a D4-D8 brane configuration in type IIA string theory. Repulsive core of nucleons is quite important in nuclear physics, but its

Attractive holographic baryons

We propose a holographic model of baryon interactions based on non-supersymmetric $ {\text{D}}7 - \overline {{\text{D}}7} $ flavor branes embedded in the Klebanov-Strassler background. The baryons

A matrix model for baryons and nuclear forces

We propose a new matrix model describing multi-baryon systems. We derive the action from open string theory on the wrapped baryon vertex D-branes embedded in the D4-D8 model of large Nc holographic

Holographic nuclear physics with massive quarks

We discuss nuclear physics in the Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto model, in the limit of large number Nc of colors and large ’t Hooft coupling, with the addition of a finite mass for the quarks. Individual

Nuclear states and spectra in holographic QCD

Abstract A new method to study nuclear physics via holographic QCD is proposed. Multiple baryons in the Sakai-Sugimoto background are described by a matrix model which is a low energy effective

Nuclear binding energy in holographic QCD

Holographic QCD provides effective theories via the AdS/CFT correspondence [1–3] and allows us to calculate various observables of large Nc QCD-like gauge theories. Nuclear physics is a challenging

Solitonic approach to holographic nuclear physics

We discuss nuclear physics in the Sakai-Sugimoto model in the limit of a large number Nc of colors and large ’t Hooft coupling λ. In this limit the individual baryons are described by classical

Properties of the Vacuum in Models for QCD: Holography vs. Resummed Field Theory. A Comparative Study.

This Thesis is dedicated to a comparison of the two means of studying the electromagnetic properties of the QCD vacuum -- holography and resummed field theory. In the UV range the non-pertubative QCD

Holographic modeling of nuclear matter and neutron stars

I review holographic models for (dense and cold) nuclear matter, neutron stars, and their mergers. I start by a brief general discussion on current knowledge of cold QCD matter and neutron stars, and

Electromagnetic Baryon Form Factors from Holographic QCD

In the holographic model of QCD suggested by Sakai and Sugimoto, baryons are chiral solitons sourced by D4 instantons in bulk of size 1/\sqrt{\lambda} with \lambda=g^2N_c. We quantize the D4

A holographic QCD and excited baryons from string theory

We study baryons of arbitrary isospin in a stringy holographic QCD model. In this D4-D8 holographic setting, the flavor symmetry is promoted to a gauge symmetry in the bulk, and produces, as KK modes

Chiral currents and static properties of nucleons in holographic QCD

We analyze static properties of nucleons in the two flavor holographic QCD model of Sakai and Sugimoto described effectively by a five-dimensional U(2) Yang-Mills theory with the Chern-Simons term on

The chiral model of Sakai-Sugimoto at finite baryon density

In the context of holographic QCD we analyze Sakai-Sugimoto's chiral model at finite baryon density and zero temperature. The baryon number density is introduced through compact D4 wrapping S4 at the

Low energy hadron physics in holographic QCD

We present a holographic dual of four-dimensional, large N_c QCD with massless flavors. This model is constructed by placing N_f probe D8-branes into a D4 background, where supersymmetry is

Baryons in holographic QCD

We study baryons in holographic QCD with D4/D8/D8 multi-D-brane system. In holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically nontrivial chiral soliton in a four-dimensional effective theory of

Dense hadronic matter in holographic QCD

We provide a method to study hadronic matter at finite density in the context of the Sakai-Sugimoto model. We introduce the baryon chemical potential through the external U(1)v gauge field in the

Cold Nuclear Matter In Holographic QCD

We study the Sakai-Sugimoto model of holographic QCD at zero temperature and finite chemical potential. We find that as the baryon chemical potential is increased above a critical value, there is a

We investigate the interactions among the pion, vector mesons and external gauge fields in the holographic dual of massless QCD proposed in a previous paper [T. Sakai and S. Sugi-moto, Prog. Theor.

Comments on baryons in holographic QCD

We generalize the description of baryons as instantons of Sakai-Sugimoto model to the case where the flavor branes are non-anti-podal. The later corresponds to quarks with a ``string endpoint mass''.
