Abstract A crystal plasticity finite element (CPFE) model is used to study nucleation, elongation, and thickening of deformation twins in a commercially pure titanium. The results of the CPFE simulations are compared with previously published data for an in-situ high resolution electron backscattered diffraction experiment that was conducted on a titanium micro-pillar.
