Nuclear division has been studied inLipomyces lipofer using the freeze-substitution process to fix the cells. The nuclear envelope breaks down in an organised manner and lammellae of endoplasmic reticulum are built up against the dispersing membrane; this is followed by the formation of a disorganised spindle.
