Nuclear charge radii of ;{7,9,10,11}Be have been determined by high-precision laser spectroscopy. On-line measurements were performed with collinear laser spectroscopy in the 2s_{1/2}-->2p_{1/2} transition on a beam of Be+ ions. Collinear and anticollinear laser beams were used simultaneously, and the absolute frequency determination using a frequency comb yielded an accuracy in the isotope-shift measurements of about 1 MHz. Combining this with accurate calculations of the mass-dependent… Expand
Towards laser spectroscopy of the proton-halo candidate boron-8
We propose to determine the nuclear charge radius of 8B by high-resolution laser spectroscopy. 8B (t 1/2 = 770 ms) is perhaps the best candidate of a nucleus exhibiting an extended protonExpand
High-precision Penning trap mass measurements of 9,10Be and the one-neutron halo nuclide 11Be
Abstract Penning trap mass measurements of 9Be, 10Be ( t 1 / 2 = 1.51 My ), and the one-neutron halo nuclide 11Be ( t 1 / 2 = 13.8 s ) have been performed using TITAN at TRIUMF. The resulting 11BeExpand
N and Z dependence of nuclear charge radii
This paper is devoted to the analysis of the general trends in the nucleon number dependence of the experimental root-mean-square (rms) charge radii. It is based on the data obtained by differentExpand
Collinear Laser Spectroscopy of Potassium : Nuclear Charge Radii beyond N=28
Nuclear ground-state properties, such as spin, charge radius, and magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments are important quantities to describe the nucleus. The comparison of experimental dataExpand
Charge radii of exotic potassium isotopes challenge nuclear theory and the magic character of N = 32
Nuclear charge radii are sensitive probes of different aspects of the nucleon-nucleon interaction and the bulk properties of nuclear matter; thus, they provide a stringent test and challenge forExpand
Nuclear-matter distribution in the proton-rich nuclei 7Be and 8B from intermediate energy proton elastic scattering in inverse kinematics
Abstract Absolute differential cross sections for elastic p 7 Be and p 8 B small-angle scattering were measured in inverse kinematics at an energy of 0.7 GeV/u at GSI Darmstadt. The hydrogen-filledExpand
DETERMINATION OF PROTON RADII OF NEUTRON-RICH OXYGEN ISOTOPES FROM CHARGE-CHANGING CROSS SECTION MEASUREMENTS
The nuclear charge radius is an important bulk property of the nucleus for investigating nuclear structure. The nuclei lying close to the boundaries of the nuclear chart (the drip lines) haveExpand
New results for neutron radiative capture on 10Be at energies between 25.3 meV and 10.0 MeV
Abstract Using the framework of the modified potential cluster model, we succeed in correctly describing the available experimental data for neutron radiative capture on 10Be total cross sections atExpand
Electric properties of the Beryllium-11 system in Halo EFT
Abstract We compute E1 transitions and electric radii in the Beryllium-11 nucleus using an effective field theory that exploits the separation of scales in this halo system. We fix the leading-orderExpand
Colloquium: Laser probing of neutron-rich nuclei in light atoms
The neutron-rich He-6 and He-8 isotopes exhibit an exotic nuclear structure that consists of a tightly bound He-4-like core with additional neutrons orbiting at a relatively large distance, forming aExpand
