We investigated the correlation between nuclear/circumnuclear starbursts around active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and the AGN activities for 43 Seyfert galaxies in the CfA and 12 μm samples. We found that the circumnuclear starburst luminosity, as well as the nuclear starburst luminosity, is positively correlated with the AGN luminosity. Moreover, the nuclear starburst luminosity is more strongly correlated with the AGN luminosity normalized with the AGN Eddington luminosity than is the…

NUCLEAR STAR FORMATION ACTIVITY AND BLACK HOLE ACCRETION IN NEARBY SEYFERT GALAXIES

Recent theoretical and observational works indicate the presence of a correlation between the star-formation rate (SFR) and active galactic nucleus (AGN) luminosity (and, therefore, the black hole

THE STARBURST–ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEUS CONNECTION: THE ROLE OF YOUNG STELLAR POPULATIONS IN FUELING SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLES

Tracing the star formation history in circumnuclear regions (CNRs) is a key step toward understanding the starburst–active galactic nucleus (AGN) connection. However, bright nuclei outshining the

Supermassive black hole mass regulated by host galaxy morphology

We investigated the relationship between supermassive black hole (SMBH) mass and host starburst luminosity in Seyfert galaxies and Palomar–Green quasi-stellar objects, focusing on the host galaxy

Obscuring Active Galactic Nuclei with Nuclear Starburst Disks

We assess the potential of nuclear starburst disks to obscure the Seyfert-like AGNs that dominate the hard X-ray background at z ∼ 1. Over 1200 starburst disk models, based on the theory developed by

AGN Feedback and Star Formation of Quasar Host Galaxies: Insights from the Molecular Gas

Molecular gas serves as a key probe of the complex interplay between black hole accretion and star formation in the host galaxies of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). We use CO(2–1) observations from a

Emission line luminosity distributions of Seyfert 2 galaxies

We probed the relation between line activities of Seyfert 2 galaxies and their host galaxies. We selected Seyfert 2 galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10 with redshifts less 0.2.

IC 630: Piercing the Veil of the Nuclear Gas

IC 630 is a nearby early-type galaxy with a mass of M⊙ with an intense burst of recent (6 Myr) star formation (SF). It shows strong nebular emission lines, with radio and X-ray emission, which

HOT DIFFUSE EMISSION IN THE NUCLEAR STARBURST REGION OF NGC 2903

We present a deep Chandra observation of the central regions of the late-type barred spiral galaxy NGC 2903. The Chandra data reveal soft (kTe ∼ 0.2–0.5 keV) diffuse emission in the nuclear starburst

THE CONTRIBUTION OF ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEI TO THE MICROJANSKY RADIO POPULATION

An X-ray background synthesis model is used to calculate the contribution of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) to the 1.4 GHz number counts between 100 nJy and 10 mJy. The number counts are broken down

INSIGHT INTO ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEUS AND HOST GALAXY CO-EVOLUTION FROM HARD X-RAY EMISSION

We study the issue of active galactic nucleus (AGN) and host co-evolution by focusing on the correlation between the hard X-ray emission from central AGNs and the stellar populations of the host

Obscuration of Active Galactic Nuclei by Circumnuclear Starbursts

We examine the possibility of active galactic nucleus (AGN) obscuration by dusty gas clouds that spurt out from circumnuclear starburst regions. For this purpose, the dynamical evolution of gas
