Disaggregated magadiite was obtained through ion-exchange in acidic media from magadiite intercalated in the synthesis with cetyltrimethylamonium cations. The combination of Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound during the procedure resulted in different morphology and different properties when compared with the pristine material, as observed by SEM. Thermal and surface properties studies performed by VT-XRD, TG, VT-FTIR, HETCOR SS-NMR, and N2 physisorption show that disaggregated magadiite…
Application of Synthetic Layered Sodium Silicate Magadiite Nanosheets for Environmental Remediation of Methylene Blue Dye in Water
TLDR
SNCM was shown to be robust without a detectable reduction in the adsorption capacity after up to four times re-use and its spontaneous, chemical, and endothermic nature was verified.
TiO2-pillared magadiite and its arsenic adsorption capacity
The structural and chemical interactions of magadiite with TiO2 pillars were examined along with arsenic adsorption potential of TiO2-pillared magadiite. The interlayer space of magadiite
Nanosheet-based magadiite: a controllable two-dimensional trap for selective capture of heavy metals
Long-chain imidazolium-based surfactants are assembled cooperatively with silicate clathrate anions to generate magadiite nanosheets, where the imidazole acts as a structure-directing agent for
Progress in Development of Magadiite to Produce Multifunctional Lamellar Materials.
TLDR
A historical overview of the hypothetical models developed to explain the magadiite crystalline structure is provided and different synthesis strategies for the preparation of magadiites as sodic, protonic, and hybrid (inorganic-inorganic and inorganic-organic) materials are discussed.
Functionalized mesoporous solids based on magadiite and [Al]-magadiite.
TLDR
The crystalline structures of magadiite and [Al]-magadiite layers were maintained as evidenced by FT-IR and SAED and contain pillars and aminopropyl groups in the interlayer space.
Soft-Pillared@Magadiite: influence of the interlayer space and amine type on CO2 adsorption.
TLDR
The results suggest that Soft-Pillared@Magadiite has an expanded interlayer space (3.05 nm) that is larger than the inter layer space when the layered material is grafted with the organosilanes separately, and it may display improved CO2 adsorption.
Combined solid-state NMR, FT-IR and computational studies on layered and porous materials.
TLDR
The concept of coupling three well-known characterization techniques (solid-state NMR, FT-IR and computational methods) for the study of solid state materials which possess 2D and 3D architectures is reviewed and the way it will benefit the scientific communities is discussed.
