Notothylas dissecta St. is described from Agumbe, India. This constitutes the first report of its occurrence in the Asiatic flora. Of special interest are the thickenings in the inner layer of the capsule wall and surface layer of the columella. In addition, the unique spores are tuberculate with a centrally raised area on the distal surface and a central hollow in each prox- imal face which is encircled by radially arranged tubercles.
