  • Wilson (1900) described in a general way the movement in Pelomyxa carolinensis. Mast (1926, 1931, 1934) made a detailed study of the process of locomotion in Amoeba proteus and in Pelomyxa palustris. During the course of a study on the function of the protoplasmic constituents in Pelomyxa carolinensis, the author made numerous observations on the process of locomotion in this species.
