We reexamine the inverse Primakoff scattering of axions, especially those with O(1) keV energies like solar axions. For such axions, the cross section of the scattering process depends highly on the structure of target atoms. We reevaluate the scattering cross section with a realistic atomic form factor and find that it can differ from the previous results by more than an order of magnitude. It is also found that inelastic scattering processes, in which the final state contains an excited or…

Reexamining the Solar Axion Explanation for the XENON1T Excess.

After including the keV photon produced via the inverse Primakoff process in the detection, the tension with the astrophysical constraints can be significantly reduced.

Inverse Primakoff Scattering as a Probe of Solar Axions at Liquid Xenon Direct Detection Experiments.

The sensitivity to solar axions for future generations of LXe detectors that can exceed future helioscope experiments, such as IAXO, for a large region of parameter space is explored.

Improved axion emissivity from a supernova via nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung

The most efficient axion production mechanism in a supernova (SN) core is the nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung. This process has been often modeled at the level of the vacuum one-pion exchange (OPE)

To constrain the allowed range for the axion decay constant fa or, equivalently, for the axion mass ma, we consider the cooling of a neutron star with strong proton superfluidity and normal

Axion searches with the EDELWEISS-II experiment

We present new constraints on the couplings of axions and more generic axion-like particles using data from the EDELWEISS-II experiment. The EDELWEISS experiment, located at the Underground

Migdal effect in dark matter direct detection experiments

A bstractThe elastic scattering of an atomic nucleus plays a central role in dark matter direct detection experiments. In those experiments, it is usually assumed that the atomic electrons around the

Physics potential of the International Axion Observatory (IAXO)

We review the physics potential of a next generation search for solar axions: the International Axion Observatory (IAXO) . Endowed with a sensitivity to discover axion-like particles (ALPs) with a
