Knowledge of the relationships and thus the classification of fungi, has developed rapidly with increasingly widespread use of molecular techniques, over the past 10–15 years, and continues to accelerate. Several genera have been found to be polyphyletic, and their generic concepts have subsequently been emended. New names have thus been introduced for species which are phylogenetically distinct from the type species of particular genera. The ending of the separate naming of morphs of the same…

Outline of Ascomycota: 2017
TLDR
Both asexual and sexual genera are merged into one outline for the phylum Ascomycota, which comprises of three subphyla viz.
A multigene phylogeny toward a new phylogenetic classification of Leotiomycetes
TLDR
A phylogeny based on up to 15 concatenated genes across 279 specimens of Leotiomycetes constitutes a framework for enabling future taxonomically targeted studies using deliberate specimen selection, and an ITS gene tree is presented, particularly targeting ex-type specimens of generic type species.
Refined families of Sordariomycetes
TLDR
This treatment of the class Sordariomycetes provides up-to-date DNA based phylogenies for 45 orders and 163 families and provides general descriptions and illustrate the type genus or another genus, where the placement has generally been confirmed with molecular data.
An overview of the genus Coprotus (Pezizales, Ascomycota) with notes on the type species and description of C. epithecioides sp. nov.
TLDR
A new species of Coprotus was discovered in the Sjeverni Velebit National Park, Croatia, and phylogenetic analysis of the type material, based on ITS and LSU sequences, was performed in order to evaluate its relationship with the type species, C. sexdecimsporus.
Taxonomy and phylogeny of hyaline-spored coelomycetes
TLDR
The present study revises the classification of the hyaline-spored coelomycetes and provides a modern taxonomic framework based on both morphology and phylogeny.
Problems, Limitations, and Challenges in Species Identification of Ascomycota Members on the Basis of ITS Regions
TLDR
It is determined that ITS-based species identification and comparative analysis with GenBank sequences significantly helps identifying Ascomycota members.
Phylogeny of the family Cladoniaceae (Lecanoromycetes, Ascomycota) based on sequences of multiple loci
TLDR
A new phylogeny of Cladoniaceae is constructed using five loci from a worldwide sample of 643 specimens representing 304 species and proposes the new genera Pulchrocladia and Rexia, as segregates of Cladia, five new combinations, and the resurrection of the genus Heterodea.
Elucidation of the life cycle of the endophytic genus Muscodor and its transfer to Induratia in Induratiaceae fam. nov., based on a polyphasic taxonomic approach
TLDR
The phylogeny shows that Muscodor species have affinities to the xylarialean genera Emarcea and Induratia, which is corroborated by the fact that their sexual states produce characteristic apiospores, which allow for the integration of Mus codor in Induratian, i.e. the genus that was historically described first.
Contribution to the study of neotropical discomycetes: a new species of the genus Geodina (Geodina salmonicolor sp. nov.) from the Dominican Republic
Geodina salmonicolor sp. nov., a new neotropical / equatorial discomycetes of the genus Geodina, is here described and illustrated. The discovery of this new entity allowed us to propose another
Taxonomic circumscription of Diaporthales based on multigene phylogeny and morphology
TLDR
This study obtained the type specimens or other authentic specimens of diaporthalean taxa from worldwide fungaria, and based on morphological characters from type or authentic specimens, details from protologue and original illustrations and molecular data obtained from GenBank, accepts 27 families and 138 genera within Diaporthales, and places Tirisporellaceae and one genus in Xylariomycetidae genera incertae sedis.

The Genera of Fungi: fixing the application of type species of generic names
TLDR
This initial paper focuses on eight genera of appendaged coelomycetes, the type species of which are neo- or epitypified here, and aims to initially focus on the subset of names that have been placed on the “Without-prejudice List of Protected Generic Names of Fungi”.
Phylogeny and taxonomy of obscure genera of microfungi
TLDR
Several families are shown to be polyphyletic within some orders, especially in the Capnodiales, Chaetothyriales and Pleosporales.
Mycosphaerellaceae – Chaos or clarity?
TLDR
A phylogenetic framework for future taxonomic work within the Mycosphaerellaceae is provided and many well-known genera are shown to be paraphyletic, with several synapomorphic characters that have evolved more than once within the family.
Naming and outline of Dothideomycetes–2014 including proposals for the protection or suppression of generic names
TLDR
This paper lists all genera currently accepted by us in Dothideomycetes, including pleomorphic and non-pleomorphic genera, and proposes single generic names for future usage, following the rulings of the current ICN.
Phylogeny and systematics of the genus Calonectria
TLDR
The identity of a large collection of Calonectria isolates from various geographic regions was determined using morphological and DNA sequence comparisons, which resulted in the discovery of seven new species; Ca.
The Botryosphaeriaceae: genera and species known from culture
TLDR
It seems likely that all of the older taxa linked to the Botryosphaeriaceae, and for which cultures or DNA sequence data are not available, cannot belinked to the species in this family that are known from culture, and will have to be disregarded for future use unless they are epitypified.
Clarification of generic and species boundaries for Metarhizium and related fungi through multigene phylogenetics
TLDR
A unified concept of sexual and asexual states in Metarhizium is proposed, combining the majority of species recognized in Metacordyceps as well as the green-spored Nomuraea species and those in the more recently described genus Chamaeleomyces.
Recommendations on generic names competing for use in Leotiomycetes (Ascomycota)
TLDR
This paper treats genera competing for use in the phylogenetically defined class Leotiomycetes except for genera of Erysiphales, and a recommendation is made about the generic name to use in cases in which two or more generic names are synonyms or taxonomically congruent.
The genus Bipolaris
TLDR
The genus Bipolaris is revised based on DNA sequence data derived from living cultures of fresh isolates, available ex-type cultures from worldwide collections and observation of type and additional specimens, and the GPDH gene is determined to be the best single marker for species of B bipolaris.
Species concepts in Cercospora: spotting the weeds among the roses
TLDR
No single locus was found to be the ideal DNA barcode gene for the genus, and species identification needs to be based on a combination of gene loci and morphological characters.
