The Basidiomycota constitutes a major phylum of the kingdom Fungi and is second in species numbers to the Ascomycota. The present work provides an overview of all validly published, currently used basidiomycete genera to date in a single document. An outline of all genera of Basidiomycota is provided, which includes 1928 currently used genera names, with 1263 synonyms, which are distributed in 241 families, 68 orders, 18 classes and four subphyla. We provide brief notes for each accepted genus…

Taxonomy and phylogeny of hyaline-spored coelomycetes
TLDR
The present study revises the classification of the hyaline-spored coelomycetes and provides a modern taxonomic framework based on both morphology and phylogeny.
Indian Pucciniales: taxonomic outline with important descriptive notes
Rusts constitute a major group of the Kingdom Fungi and they are distributed all over the world on a wide range of wild and cultivated plants. It is the largest natural group of plant pathogens
Two new species of Deconica (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) from Australia and Mexico
TLDR
Two new species of Deconica with chrysocystidia are described from Australia and Mexico and the phylogenetic position of the new species described here within Deconica sect.
Refined families of Sordariomycetes
TLDR
This treatment of the class Sordariomycetes provides up-to-date DNA based phylogenies for 45 orders and 163 families and provides general descriptions and illustrate the type genus or another genus, where the placement has generally been confirmed with molecular data.
Species diversity of basidiomycota

  • Fungal Diversity
  • 2022
Fungi are eukaryotes that play essential roles in ecosystems. Among fungi, Basidiomycota is one of the major phyla with more than 40,000 described species. We review species diversity of
Phylogenetic relationships in the genus Podoserpula and description of P. aliweni, a new species from Chile
TLDR
A new species of Podoserpula aliweni is described, which forms a unique branch in the phylogenetic tree and differs from its most closely related taxon by 1.8-2.1% in the ITS region.
Phylogeny and character evolution in the Dacrymycetes, and systematics of Unilacrymaceae and Dacryonaemataceae fam. nov.
We present a multilocus phylogeny of the class Dacrymycetes, based on data from the 18S, ITS, 28S, RPB1, RPB2, TEF-1α, 12S, and ATP6 DNA regions, with c. 90 species including the types of most
Taxonomic Study of the Genus Pholiota (Strophariaceae, Basidiomycota) in Korea
TLDR
A taxonomic key and the ITS sequence data for Korean Pholiota species are included and can be good baselines for further research onPholiota taxonomy and diversity.
A phylogenetic assessment of Pholiota and the new genus Pyrrhulomyces
TLDR
A new genus Pyrrhulomyces is described to accommodate P. astragalina and a new cryptic species from the Southern Appalachians, PyrrhULomyces amariceps, and 20 new synonymies are proposed, mostly in Pholiota.

Taxonomy and phylogeny of Ceriporia (Polyporales, Basidiomycota) with an emphasis of Chinese collections
TLDR
The phylogeny shows that Ceriporia is not monophyletic, C. viridans as morphologically circumscribed are polyphyletic and presence or absence of hymenial cystidia is not a useful character in delimiting species relationships in Ceripia.
The 2016 classification of lichenized fungi in the Ascomycota and Basidiomycota – Approaching one thousand genera
TLDR
The phylogenetic position of the 39 orders containing lichenized fungi suggests 20–30 independent lichenization events during the evolution of higher Fungi, 14–23 in the Ascomycota and 6–7 in the Basidiomycota.
Phylogeny of the Pluteaceae (Agaricales, Basidiomycota): taxonomy and character evolution.
A six-gene phylogenetic overview of Basidiomycota and allied phyla with estimated divergence times of higher taxa and a phyloproteomics perspective
TLDR
A phylogenetic overview of Basidiomycota and related phyla in relation to ten years of DNA based phylogenetic studies since the AFTOL publications in 2007 is provided.
Phylogenetic relationships, taxonomic revision and new taxa of Termitomyces (Lyophyllaceae, Basidiomycota) inferred from combined nLSU- and mtSSU-rDNA sequences
TLDR
The combined phylogenetic analysis and morphological features reveal that different strains of the same taxon show sometimes large variations in macro- and micromorphological features, thereby justifying the new forms erected within these taxa in order to facilitate their identification.
One hundred and seventeen clades of euagarics.
Molecular phylogenetic analyses redefine seven major clades and reveal 22 new generic clades in the fungal family Boletaceae
TLDR
The results indicated that the characters frequently used in the morphology-based taxonomy of Boletaceae, such as basidiospore ornamentation, the form of the basidioma, and the stuffed pores each had multiple origins within the family, suggesting that the use of such features for high-level classification ofBoletaceae should be de-emphasized and combined with other characters.
Phylogenetic relationships of russuloid basidiomycetes with emphasis on aphyllophoralean taxa
TLDR
Phylogenetic relationships among russuloid basidiomycetes were investigated using sequence data from the nuclear 5.8S, ITS2 and large-subunit rDNA genes and results suggest that gloeocystidia are a synapomorphy for taxa within the rRussuloid clade while the amyloidity of spores is inconsistent.
Toward resolving family-level relationships in rust fungi (Uredinales)
TLDR
It is concluded that morphology alone is a poor predictor of rust relationships at most levels and host selection, on the other hand, has played a significant role in rust evolution.
