Examination of the type specimens reveals thatAiolotheca parthenioides DC. is identical with a species currently known asZaluzania robinsonii W. M. Sharp. Similarly, Tonalanthus aurantiacus T. S. Brandegee is conspecific withCalea megacephala Robinson & Greenman. It is shown thatAiolotheca DC. is synonymous withZaluzania Pers., and thatTonalanthus T. S. Brandegee is a synonym ofCalea L.
