Examination of the type specimens reveals thatAiolotheca parthenioides DC. is identical with a species currently known asZaluzania robinsonii W. M. Sharp. Similarly, Tonalanthus aurantiacus T. S. Brandegee is conspecific withCalea megacephala Robinson & Greenman. It is shown thatAiolotheca DC. is synonymous withZaluzania Pers., and thatTonalanthus T. S. Brandegee is a synonym ofCalea L. The new combinationZaluzania parthenioides (DC.) Rzedowski is proposed. Study of the original material confirms the correctness of the application of the nameZaluzania triloba (Ort.) Pers. in the sense of W. M. Sharp (1935).
