Pooled normal polyspecific IgG for therapeutic use (IVIg) contain anti-idiotypes against idiotypic determinants expressed by autoantibodies from patients with a variety of autoimmune diseases. In the present study, antiidiotypes in IVIg are shown to recognize a cross-reactive idiotype on human anti-thyroglobulin (TG) autoantibodies, that was defined by heterologous antiidiotypic antibodies, termed anti-T44 antibodies. The T44 idiotype is located outside the antibody-combining site of anti-TG…

Evidence for a restricted idiotypic and epitopic specificity of anti‐thyroglobulin autoantibodies in patients with autoimmune thyroiditis
TLDR
The present study demonstrates that the expression of the T44 Id is strongly associated with the recognition by anti‐TG autoantibodies of a specific epitopic cluster on human TG, suggesting that qualitative rather than quantitative criteria should be used to identify pathological autoantsibodies.
Origin of anti-idiotypic activity against anti-factor VIII autoantibodies in pools of normal human immunoglobulin G (IVIg).
TLDR
Observations suggest that aged donors and multiparous women may be privileged sources for the anti-idiotypic activity of IVIg against autoantibodies and emphasize that the expression of anti-IDiotypics activity in IVIG results from a synergistic participation of anti -idiotypes from each donor contributing to the pool.
Autoantibodies and monoclonal antibodies directed to an immunodominant antigenic region of thyroglobulin interact with thyroperoxidase through an interspecies idiotype.
TLDR
The results indicated that TPO interacts with an idiotype present on human TG aAb and mouse TG mAb displaying a similar epitopic specificity; this interspecies idiotype is recognized by anti-idiotype antibodies present in NhlgG.
Anti‐idiotypes against anti‐neutrophil cytoplasmic antigen autoantibodies in normal human polyspecific IgG for therapeutic use and in the remission sera of patients with systemic vasculitis
TLDR
Observations suggest that remission of systemic vasculitis is associated with the generation of anti‐idiotypes against autoantibodies rather than the suppression of production of ANCA autoantIBodies, and IVIg may modulate the activity of systemic Vasculitis in vivo.
Anti-DNA and Antiphospholipid Antibodies in IVIG Preparations: In Vivo Study in Naive Mice
TLDR
It is concluded that commercial IVIG preparations contain high levels of antiphospholipid and anti-DNA auto-Abs, as well as their antiidiotypic Abs, in all the IVIGs.
Intravenous immunoglobulin and immune response
TLDR
Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) contains a broad spectrum of antibody specificities against bacterial, viral, parasitic and mycoplasma antigens, that are capable of both opsonization and neutralization of microbes and toxins.
Anti-F(ab')2 antibody in HIV type 1 infection: relationship to hypergammaglobulinemia and to antibody specific to the V3 loop region of glycoprotein 120.
TLDR
The data suggest that measuring serum anti-F(ab')2 is misleading when immune complexes are present: apparent increases as disease progresses are due to increased IgG and, possibly, to related technical artifacts.

Anti‐idiotypes against Autoantibodies in Normal Immunoglobulins: Evidence for Network Regulation of Human Autoimmune Responses
TLDR
It is suggested that IVIg may be efficient in selected autoimmune diseases by providing a source of anti-idiotypes with a wide range of specificities brought as interconnected antibody species that may conpensate for altered connectivity of the immune network of patients with autoimmune diseases.
Anti-idiotypes against autoantibodies and alloantibodies to VIII:C (anti-haemophilic factor) are present in therapeutic polyspecific normal immunoglobulins.
TLDR
The results indicate that IVIg contain anti-idiotypes against autoantibodies and alloantib bodies to VIII:C, which suggests that, in addition to autoantIBodies, some alloants may be suppressed in vivo by IVIG.
Idiotypic determinants on human thyroglobulin autoantibodies derived from the serum of Hashimoto patients and EB virus transformed cell lines.
TLDR
Both the private and the public idiotypes appear to be restricted to the anti-Tg set of antibodies; this would favour the view that the IdX represents a collection of idotopes with the ability to bind Tg as their common feature, rather than a common structure based upon closely similar germ line derived amino acid sequences.
Inhibition of autoantibody binding to platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa by anti-idiotypic antibodies in intravenous gammaglobulin
TLDR
Results show that IVIgG preparations from normal donors contain anti-idiotypic antibodies directed against idiotypes located on GPIIb/IIIa autoantibodies but do not have anti-IDiotypes to platelet alloantibodied against the same or different molecules.
Recovery from anti-VIII:C (antihemophilic factor) autoimmune disease is dependent on generation of antiidiotypes against anti-VIII:C autoantibodies.
TLDR
In patients who recover from autoimmune disease and in patients in whom autoantibodies have been suppressed by infusions of IVIg, antiidiotypic antibodies may have shifted the immune system toward the steady-state equilibrium that prevents autoimmunity in normal individuals.
High degree of idiotypic cross-reactivity among murine monoclonal antibodies to thyroglobulin.
TLDR
The idiotypy of five mouse monoclonal antibodies generated against human thyroglobulin (Tg) and reacting with Tg from various species, including murine Tg, was investigated and cross-reactivity was found between mAb generated in different fusion experiments and recognizing apparently distinct epitopes on Tg.
Anti‐idiotypic immunity and autoimmunity I. In vitro and in vivo effects of anti‐idiotypic antibodies to spontaneously occurring autoantibodies to rat thyroglobulin
TLDR
BUF rat thyroiditis has the following advantages: it occurs in an inbred strain, arises spontaneously and is characterized by the production of autoantibodies to only one autoantigen, thyroglobulin, so this model is particularly suitable to study the effects of anti‐idiotypic reactions on those autoimmune disorders whose damage is caused by humoral immunity.
Evidence of unique idiotypic determinants and similar idiotypic determinants on human antithyroglobulin antibodies.
TLDR
Results are evidence of the existence of unique idiotypic determinant on that anti-thyroglobulin antibody used for immunization and similar idiotypics determinants on all anti- ThyroglOBulin antibodies.
