The in vivo release of noradrenaline (NA) in the locus coeruleus (LC) of conscious rats was enhanced by local superfusion of pargyline, idazoxan, bicuculline, AMPA as well as by experimentally induced hypotension. Noise stress considerably enhanced NA release in the LC and this response was promoted after local alpha2-adrenoceptor blockade by idazoxan.
