A bstractWe study Schrödinger invariant field theories (nonrelativistic conformal field theories) in the large charge (particle number) sector. We do so by constructing the effective field theory (EFT) for a Goldstone boson of the associated U(1) symmetry in a harmonic potential. This EFT can be studied semi-classically in a large charge expansion. We calculate the dimensions of the lowest lying operators, as well as correlation functions of charged operators. We find universal behavior of…

The spinful large charge sector of non-relativistic CFTs: from phonons to vortex crystals

A bstractWe study operators in Schrödinger invariant field theories (non-relativistic conformal field theories or NRCFTs) with large charge (particle number) and spin. Via the state-operator

Operator spectrum of nonrelativistic CFTs at large charge

We extend and clarify the large-charge expansion of the conformal dimension ∆ Q of the lowest operator of charge Q in nonrelativistic conformal field theories using the state-operator correspondence.

Large charge, semiclassics and superfluids :from broken symmetries to conformal field theories

This thesis explores the application of semiclassical methods in the study of states with large quantum numbers for theories invariant under internal symmetries. In the first part of the thesis, we

Large Charge Sector of 3d Parity-Violating CFTs

Certain CFTs with a global U(1) symmetry become superfluids when coupled to a chemical potential. When this happens, a Goldstone effective field theory controls the spectrum and correlators of the

The large-charge expansion for Schrödinger systems

A bstractIn this note, we perform the large-charge expansion for non-relativistic systems with a global U(1) symmetry in 3 + 1 and 2 + 1 space-time dimensions, motivated by applications to the

Near-Schrödinger dynamics at large charge

In this paper we discuss a nonrelativistic system at large charge in a regime where Schrodinger symmetry is slightly broken by an explicit mass term for the dilaton field which nonlinearly realizes

Droplet-Edge Operators in Nonrelativistic Conformal Field Theories.

We consider the large-charge expansion of the charged ground state of a Schrodinger-invariant, nonrelativistic conformal field theory in a harmonic trap, in general dimension d. In the existing

Chern-Simons-matter theories at large baryon number

Abstract We study SU(2) Chern-Simons theories at level k coupled to a scalar on T2 × ℝ at large baryon number. We find a homogeneous but anisotropic ground state configuration for any values of k on

Fermionic CFTs at large charge and large N

We study the large-charge sector of large- N fermionic cfts in three dimensions. Depending on the model and the nature of the fixed charge, we find two types of descriptions: in terms of a superfluid or

Nonrelativistic conformal field theories

We study representations of the Schr\"odinger algebra in terms of operators in nonrelativistic conformal field theories. We prove a correspondence between primary operators and eigenstates of

Gravity duals for nonrelativistic conformal field theories.

This work attempts to generalize the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence to nonrelativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations, and constructs a family of metrics which realize these symmetries as isometries.

Operator product expansion and conservation laws in non-relativistic conformal field theories

A bstractWe explore the consequences of conformal symmetry for the operator product expansions in nonrelativistic field theories. Similar to the relativistic case, the OPE coefficients of descendants

Rotating superfluids and spinning charged operators in conformal field theory

We compute the scaling dimensions of operators with large global charge and spin in 2 + 1 dimensional conformal field theories. By the state-operator correspondence, these operators correspond to

The large charge expansion at large N

A bstractThe scaling dimensions of charged operators in conformal field theory have recently been predicted to exhibit universal behavior in the large charge limit. We verify this behavior in the 2+1

A bstractIn d = 2 + 1 dimensions, there exist field theories which are non-relativistic and superconformal. These theories describe two species of anyons, whose spins differ by 1/2, interacting in a

Gravity duals for non-relativistic CFTs

We attempt to generalize the AdS/CFT correspondence to non-relativistic conformal field theories which are invariant under Galilean transformations. Such systems govern ultracold atoms at unitarity,

OPE convergence in non-relativistic conformal field theories

A bstractMotivated by applications to the study of ultracold atomic gases near the unitarity limit, we investigate the structure of the operator product expansion (OPE) in non-relativistic conformal
