Nonregenerative photonic dual buses with passive optical access and optical amplification are investigated for transmission performance and potential network space for MAN/WAN. A two-wavelength system is proposed to improve the network capability, with one wavelength transmitted by the head of bus for distributing the clock and regulating the amplified spontaneous emission.
