We find that a new type of nonreciprocal modes exists at an interface between two parity-time- ($\mathcal{PT}$-) symmetric magnetic domains (MDs) near the frequency of zero effective permeability. This mode is nonpropagating and purely magnetic when the two MDs are semi-infinite, while it becomes propagating in the finite case. In particular, two pronounced nonreciprocal responses could be observed via the excitation of this mode: one-way optical tunneling for oblique incidence and… Expand

Optical non-reciprocity induced by asymmetrical dispersion of Tamm plasmon polaritons in terahertz magnetoplasmonic crystals.
TLDR
By varying the surface termination and the surrounding medium, it is found that the nonreciprocal bound or radiative Tamm plasmon polartions can be supported, manipulated, and well excited. Expand
Optical non-reciprocity induced by asymmetrical dispersion of Tamm plasmon polaritons in terahertz magnetoplasmonic crystals
Nonreciprocal light phenomena, including one-way wave propagation along an interface and one-way optical tunneling, are presented at terahertz frequencies in a system of magnetically controlledExpand
Zero index metamaterials with PT symmetry in a waveguide system.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that there are two exceptional points in a new waveguide system consisting of zero index metamaterials with an air gap, which can induce unidirectional transparency and perfect bidirectional transmission without reflection can occur. Expand
Chiral Metamaterials with PT Symmetry and Beyond.
TLDR
It is shown that the chirality can be tailored independently of permittivity and permeability; thus, in such systems, a wide control of new optical properties including advanced polarization control is achieved. Expand
Scattering Properties of PT-Symmetric Chiral Metamaterials
The combination of gain and loss in optical systems that respect parity–time (PT)-symmetry has pointed recently to a variety of novel optical phenomena and possibilities. Many of them can be realizedExpand

Accessible phases via wave impedance engineering with PT -symmetric metamaterials
Optical systems that respect Parity-Time (PT) symmetry can be realized with proper incorporation of gain/loss materials. However, due to the absence of magnetic response at optical frequencies, theExpand
Oblique-incidence-induced phase transition in parity-time symmetric optical bilayers
We investigate the scattering of optical waves from one-dimensional parity-time () symmetric structures of arbitrary complexity. We prove that it is feasible to observe the transition from anExpand
Nonlinear scattering by non-Hermitian multilayers with saturation effects.
TLDR
It is shown that by tuning the parameters of the layers the authors can effectively control the impact of nonlinearity on the scattering characteristics of the non-Hermitian layered structure. Expand
Collective resonances in a circular array of gyromagnetic rods
We present a rigorous theoretical investigation on the collective magnetic resonance of a circular array of subwavelength gyromagnetic rods. We derive the closed-form solutions to the eigenmodesExpand
