A thin-film superconductor shaped into a spherical shell at whose center lies the end of long thin solenoid in which there is an integer flux $N{\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{0}$ has been previously extensively studied numerically as a model of a two-dimensional superconductor. The emergent flux from the solenoid produces a radial $B$ field at the superconducting shell and $N$ vortices in the superconducting film. We study here the effects of including a second solenoid (carrying a flux $f)$ which is…

Gamma-convergence and the emergence of vortices for Ginzburg–Landau on thin shells and manifolds
We analyze the Ginzburg–Landau energy in the presence of an applied magnetic field when the superconducting sample occupies a thin neighborhood of a bounded, closed manifold in $${\mathbb R^3}$$. We
On the First Critical Field in Ginzburg–Landau Theory for Thin Shells and Manifolds
In this article, we investigate the response of a thin superconducting shell to an arbitrary external magnetic field. We identify the intensity of the applied field that forces the emergence of
Synthetic Landau Levels and Spinor Vortex Matter on a Haldane Spherical Surface with a Magnetic Monopole.
A flexible scheme to realize exact flat Landau levels on curved spherical geometry in a system of spinful cold atoms by applying the Floquet engineering of a magnetic quadrupole field to create a synthetic monopole field in real space is presented.
Weyl series for Aharonov-Bohm billiards
Following a conjecture of Berry and Howls (1994) concerning the geometric information contained within the high orders of Weyl series, we examine such series for the average spectral properties of
New Dimension in Magnetism and Superconductivity: 3D and Curvilinear Nanoarchitectures
The perspective is aimed at crossing the boundaries between the magnetism and superconductivity communities and drawing attention to the conceptual aspects of how extension of structures into the third dimension and curvilinear geometry can modify existing and aid launching novel functionalities.
Approximations of a Ginzburg-Landau model for superconducting hollow spheres based on spherical centroidal Voronoi tessellations
The numerical approximations of the Ginzburg-Landau model for a superconducting hollow spheres are constructed using a gauge invariant discretization on spherical centroidal Voronoi tessellations to provide a high resolution scheme for computing the supercurrent and the induced magnetic field.
