BACKGROUND & AIMS Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is reported commonly in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), which has been suggested as a risk factor for the progressive form of NAFLD, or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
