We study the entropy of non-supersymmetric extremal black holes which exhibit attractor mechanism by making use of the entropy function. This method, being simple, can be used to calculate corrections to the entropy due to higher order corrections to the action. In particular we apply this method for five dimensional non-supersymmetric extremal black hole which carries two magnetic charges and find the R2 corrections to the entropy. Using the behavior of the action evaluated for the extremal…

Non-supersymmetric attractor with the cosmological constant

As a test for the non-supersymmetric attractor mechanism, we consider extremal Reissner-Nordstrom-(anti-)de Sitter black holes. Based on the simple observation that the near-horizon geometry of a

On entropy function for supersymmetric black rings

The entropy function for five-dimensional supersymmetric black rings, which are solutions of U(1)(3) minimal supergravity, is calculated via both on-shell and off-shell formalism. We find that at the

Entropy function for 4-charge extremal black holes in type IIA superstring theory

We calculate the entropy of 4-charge extremal black holes in Type IIA supersting theory by using Sen's entropy function method. Using the low-energy effective actions in both 10D and 4D, we find

On attractor mechanism and entropy function for non-extremal black holes/branes

It is shown that even though there is no attractor mechanism in the non-extremal black holes/branes, the entropy function formalism does work and the entropy is given by the entropyfunction at its saddle point.

Black hole entropy functions and attractor equations

The entropy and the attractor equations for static extremal black hole solutions follow from a variational principle based on an entropy function. In the general case such an entropy function can be

Moduli flow and non-supersymmetric AdS attractors

We investigate the attractor mechanism in gauged supergravity in the presence of higher derivatives terms. In particular, we discuss the attractor behaviour of static black hole horizons in anti-de

Non-supersymmetric attractor flow in symmetric spaces

We derive extremal black hole solutions for a variety of four dimensional models which, after Kaluza-Klein reduction, admit a description in terms of 3D gravity coupled to a sigma model with

On the stability of non-supersymmetric quantum attractors in string theory

We study four dimensional non-supersymmetric attractors in type IIA string theory in the presence of sub-leading corrections to the prepotential. For a given Calabi-Yau manifold, the D0 − D4 system

Higher derivative corrections to non-supersymmetric extremal black holes in Script N = 2 supergravity

Using the entropy function formalism we compute the entropy of extremal supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric black holes in = 2 supergravity theories in four dimensions with higher derivative

We investigate the attractor mechanism for spherically symmetric extremal black holes in a theory of general R2 gravity in 4-dimensions, coupled to gauge fields and moduli fields. For the general R2

A C-Function For Non-Supersymmetric Attractors

We present a c-function for spherically symmetric, static and asymptotically flat solutions in theories of four-dimensional gravity coupled to gauge fields and moduli. The c-function is valid for

Non-supersymmetric attractors

We consider theories with gravity, gauge fields and scalars in four-dimensional asymptotically flat space-time. By studying the equations of motion directly we show that the attractor mechanism can

Non-supersymmetric attractors in R**2 gravities

We investigate the attractor mechanism for spherically symmetric extremal black holes in a theory of general R2 gravity in 4-dimensions, coupled to gauge fields and moduli fields. For the general R2

Exact Counting of Supersymmetric Black Hole Microstates

It is shown that the entropy of certain two-charge supersymmetric black holes in N=4 string theories can be computed to all orders using Wald's formula and the supersymmetric attractor equations with

Entropy function for heterotic black holes

We use the entropy function formalism to study the effect of the Gauss-Bonnet term on the entropy of spherically symmetric extremal black holes in heterotic string theory in four dimensions.

Black Hole Entropy Function and the Attractor Mechanism in Higher Derivative Gravity

The entropy of the black hole is given by the value of the entropy function at this extremum, and the values of the scalar fields at the horizon as well as the sizes of AdS2 and S D−2 are determined by extremizing this entropy function with respect to the corresponding parameters.

Exact Counting of Black Hole Microsates

The exact entropy of two-charge supersymmetric black holes in N=4 string theories is computed to all orders using Wald's formula and the supersymmetric attractor equations with an effective action

New Attractors

: We derive new algebraic attractor equations describing supersymmetric flux vacua of type IIB string theory. The first term in these equations, proportional to the gravitino mass (the central charge),

Non-supersymmetric attractors in string theory

We find examples of non-supersymmetric attractors in Type II string theory compactified on a Calabi Yau three-fold. For a non-supersymmetric attractor the fixed values to which the moduli are drawn
