Harmonic generation is a general characteristic of driven nonlinear systems, and serves as an efficient tool for investigating the fundamental principles that govern the ultrafast nonlinear dynamics. Here, we report on terahertz-field driven high-harmonic generation in the three-dimensional Dirac semimetal Cd3As2 at room temperature. Excited by linearly-polarized multi-cycle terahertz pulses, the third-, fifth-, and seventh-order harmonic generation is very efficient and detected via time…

Second harmonic generation in Dirac/Weyl semimetals with broken tilt inversion symmetry.

It is found that Dirac/Weyl semimetals have a very high nonlinear susceptibility, and an optimal tilt of the Dirac-Weyl node for the maximum nonlinear susceptible has been found.

Maximal terahertz emission in high harmonic generation from 3D Dirac semimetals

Effect of Interlayer Coupling and Symmetry on High-Order Harmonic Generation from Monolayer and Bilayer Hexagonal Boron Nitride

High-order harmonic generation (HHG) is a fundamental process which can be simplified as the production of high energetic photons from a material subjected to a strong driving laser field. This

Efficient Terahertz Harmonic Generation with Coherent Acceleration of Electrons in the Dirac Semimetal Cd_{3}As_{2}.

The authors' time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy and calculations clarify the microscopic mechanism of the nonlinearity originating in the coherent acceleration of Dirac electrons in momentum space and pave the way toward novel devices for high-speed electronics and photonics based on topological semimetals.

Snapshots of non-equilibrium Dirac carrier distributions in graphene.

Time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with femtosecond extreme-ultraviolet pulses are used to directly probe the non-equilibrium response of Dirac electrons near the K-point of the Brillouin zone, and no indication of carrier multiplication is found, questioning the applicability of graphene for light harvesting.

Anisotropic high-harmonic generation in bulk crystals

High-harmonic generation in a solid turns out to be sensitive to the interatomic bonding — a very useful feature that could enable the all-optical imaging of the interatomic potential. The
