We demonstrate that electron-phonon interaction in quantum dots embedded in one-dimensional systems leads to pronounced, non-Markovian decoherence of optical transitions. The experiments that we present focus on the line shape of photoluminescence from low-temperature axially localized carbon nanotube excitons.
