A bstractThe Einstein equations describing the black-brane dynamics both in Minkowski and AdS background were recently recast in the form of coupled diffusion equations in the large-D(imension) limit. Using such results in the literature, we formulate a higher-order perturbation theory of black branes in time domain and present the general form of solutions for arbitrary initial conditions. For illustrative purposes, the solutions up to the first or second order are explicitly written down for… Expand

The large dimension limit of a small black hole instability in anti-de Sitter space
A bstractWe study the dynamics of a black hole in an asymptotically AdSd × Sd space-time in the limit of a large number of dimensions, d → ∞. Such a black hole is known to become dynamically unstableExpand
Large D holography with metric deformations

Holographic turbulence in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity at large D

Black brane viscosity and the Gregory-Laflamme instability
We study long wavelength perturbations of neutral black p-branes in asymptotically flat space and show that, as anticipated in the blackfold approach, solutions of the relativistic hydrodynamicExpand
Effective theory of black holes in the 1/D expansion

Evolution and End Point of the Black String Instability: Large D Solution.
The solution of the equations that describe the dynamical evolution of black strings and branes to leading order in the expansion in the inverse of the number of dimensions D shows that thin enough black strings are unstable to developing inhomogeneities along their length, and at late times they asymptote to stable nonuniform black strings. This work considers black strings wrapped over the compact circle of a d-dimensional cylindrical spacetime and calculates the instability mass for a large range of dimensions and finds that it follows an exponential law gamma(d), where gamma<1 is a constant. Expand

Black strings, low viscosity fluids, and violation of cosmic censorship.
The simulation results imply that the string segments will reach zero radius in finite asymptotic time, whence the classical space-time terminates in a naked singularity, this constitutes a generic violation of cosmic censorship. Expand
