Non-Monotonic Reasoning Using Dempster's Rule

  title={Non-Monotonic Reasoning Using Dempster's Rule},
  author={Matthew L. Ginsberg},
Rich’s suggestion that the arcs of semantic nets be lahelletl so as to reflect confidence in the propertics they represent is investigated in greater detail. If these conGclcnccs are thought of as ranges of acceptable probabilities, esi$ting statistical methods can be used eflectively to combine them. The framework developed also seems to he a natural one in which to describe higher levels of deduction, such as “reasoning about reasoning”.
