The neuropathology associated with the clinical entities frontotemporal dementia (FTD, behavioral variant FTD), progressive non-Xuent aphasia (PNFA) and semantic dementia (SD), is heterogeneous with the common feature being a relatively selective degeneration of the frontal and temporal lobes (frontotemporal lobar degeneration, FTLD).
