No evidence of pre-copulatory mate choice by gynes in the facultatively parthenogenetic ant Cataglyphis cursor

Virgin queens (gynes) of the ant Cataglyphis cursor mate on the ground at the nest entrance, where they benefit from the protection of nestmate workers.
