Abstract

Human intestinal Caco-2 cells metabolize and detoxify NO via a dioxygen- and NADPH-dependent, cyanide- and CO-sensitive pathway that yields nitrate. Enzymes catalyzing NO dioxygenation fractionate with membranes and are enriched in microsomes.
