Nitrate uptake and nitrate reduction in synchronous Chlorella

Abstract

Nitrate uptake was followed continuously in cultures of Chlorella sorokiniana using ionsensitive electrodes. During the lifecycle of the synchronous cell cultures, a drastic increase occurred in the first hour after the onset of the light. Nitrate uptake rate was shown to be dependent on illumination intensity, nitrate concentration, and temperature. These… (More)
