M itral and tricuspid regurgitation (TR) are important clinical entities that occur when blood regurgitates from the ventricles to the atria during systole. Mitral regurgitation (MR) results in left-sided volume overload with progressive enlargement of the left atrium and left ventricle. Patients with MR experience shortness of breath, atrial arrhythmias, and symptoms of congestive heart failure.
