We present a study of the sensitivity to models of new physics of proton collisions resulting in three electroweak bosons. As a benchmark, we analyze models in which an exotic scalar field φ is produced in association with a gauge boson ( V = γ or Z ). The scalar then decays to a pair of bosons, giving the process pp → φV → V (cid:48) V (cid:48)(cid:48) V . We interpret our results in a set of effective field theories where the exotic scalar fields couple to the Standard Model through pairs of…

Changing patterns in electroweak precision fits with new color-charged states: Oblique corrections and the W -boson mass

The recent measurement by the CDF Collaboration of the 𝑊 boson mass is in significant tension with the Standard Model expectation, showing a discrepancy of seven standard deviations. A larger value

Dirac gaugino masses and supersoft supersymmetry breaking

We introduce a new supersymmetric extension of the standard model in which the gauge sector contains complete N = 2 supersymmetry multiplets. Supersymmetry breaking from the D-term vev of a hidden

PYTHIA 6.2: Physics and manual

The PYTHIA program can be used to generate high-energy-physics `events', i.e. sets of outgoing particles produced in the interactions between two incoming particles. The objective is to provide as

DURHAM IPPP WORKSHOP PAPER: Presentation of search results: the CLs technique

I describe a framework for the presentation of search results which is motivated by frequentist statistics. The most well-known use of this framework is for the combined search for the Higgs boson at

Asymptotic formulae for likelihood-based tests of new physics

We describe likelihood-based statistical tests for use in high energy physics for the discovery of new phenomena and for construction of confidence intervals on model parameters. We focus on the

FastJet user manual

FastJet is a C++ package that provides a broad range of jet finding and analysis tools. It includes efficient native implementations of all widely used 2→1 sequential recombination jet algorithms for
