We extract new parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton by global analysis of hard scattering data in the general-mass framework of perturbative quantum chromodynamics. Our analysis includes new theoretical developments together with the most recent collider data from deep-inelastic scattering, vector boson production, and single-inclusive jet production. Because of the difficulty in fitting both the D0 Run-II W lepton asymmetry data and some fixed-target DIS data, we present two…

The phenomenology of central exclusive production at hadron colliders
• Physics
• 2012
Central exclusive production (CEP) processes in high-energy hadron–hadron collisions provide an especially clean environment in which to measure the nature and quantum numbers (in particular, the
New parton distributions in a fixed flavour factorization scheme from recent deep-inelastic-scattering data
• Physics

We present our QCD analysis of the proton structure function to determine the parton distributions at the next-to-leading order. The heavy quark contributions to , with i = c, b have been included in
Constraints for the nuclear parton distributions from Z and W± production at the LHC
• Physics
• 2011
The LHC is foreseen to finally bring also the nuclear collisions to the TeV scale thereby providing new possibilities for physics studies, in particular related to the electro-weak sector of the
Parton densities from LHC vector boson production at small and large transverse momenta
• Physics

The parton densities of the proton are of fundamental importance not only for our description of hadronic and nuclear structure, but also for reliable predictions for new heavy particle searches at
Hard scattering cross sections and parton distribution functions at the LHC
In this thesis we will explore a Mellin space approach to the evaluation of precision cross-sections at hadron colliders. We consider three processes with known analytic results for perturbative QCD

Focusing on hadron scattering at large partonic momentum fractions x, we compare nonperturbative QCD predictions for the asymptotic behavior of DIS structure functions and parton distribution
Parton distribution function dependence of benchmark Standard Model total cross sections at the 7 TeV LHC
We compare predictions for the W, Z, gg → H and $t\bar{t}$ total cross sections at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), for a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, using the most recent publicly available

Statistical methods for research workers
The prime object of this book is to put into the hands of research workers, and especially of biologists, the means of applying statistical tests accurately to numerical data accumulated in their own
