Previous studies that determined the normal limits for the paediatric ECG had their imperfections: ECGs were recorded at a relatively low sampling rate, ECG measurements were conducted manually, or normal limits were presented for only a limited set of parameters. The aim of this study was to establish an up-to-date and complete set of clinically relevant normal limits for the paediatric ECG.
METHODS AND RESULTS
ECGs from 1912 healthy Dutch children (age 11 days to 16 years) were…

Normal limits of the electrocardiogram derived from a large database of Brazilian primary care patients
- MedicineBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
- 2017
This large study provided normal values for heart rate, P, QRS and T frontal axis, P and QRS overall duration, PR and QT overall intervals andQTc corrected by Hodges, Bazett, Fridericia and Framingham formulae for Latinos of both sexes older than 1 year.

The observed differences in various electrocardiograms parameters could be related to biologic variability and to some technical details such as precordial electrode placement and visual checking of the records in addition to race.

Electrocardiographic Criteria for Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Children
- MedicinePediatric Cardiology
- 2008
The sensitivity of the pediatric ECG in detecting LVH is low but depends strongly on the definition of the reference used for validation, and when clinical evidence is also taken into account, the sensitivity improved considerably.
Study on ECG in the Adolescent
- MedicinePediatric Cardiology
- 2018
Normal male and female ECG standards on 69 ECG parameters in the adolescent were established, and ECG sex difference began to appear the earliest at ages 6–9 years, and it occurred mostly at ages 9–13 years and 13–18 years, reflecting the anatomical and physiological consequences of puberty.

The present study of a large number of pediatric subjects showed that the effects of age and sex on ECG parameters are different, and that criteria for ventricular hypertrophy should be newly determined by age andsex.
Electrocardiograms in Healthy North American Children in the Digital Age
- MedicineCirculation. Arrhythmia and electrophysiology
- 2018
In this large, diverse cohort of healthy children, most ECG intervals and amplitudes varied by sex and race, with important implications for interpreting pediatric ECGs in the modern era when used for diagnosis or screening, including thresholds for left ventricular hypertrophy.
Normal limits for heart rate as established using 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiography in children and adolescents
- MedicineCardiology in the Young
- 2008
Heart rate, as documented using Holter recodings, can be correlated with age and gender, permitting establishments of normal gender-specific limits for children and adolescents.
Electrocardiogram Reference Ranges Derived from a Standardized Clinical Trial Population
- Medicine
- 2005
A QT correction formula to correct the QT interval for heart rate is provided, shown to be superior to the Bazett and Fridericia corrections in a clinical trial population in the ability to minimize the correlation between QT and RR.
Electrocardiogram Standards for Children and Young Adults Using Z-Scores

Electronically acquired ECG values based on the largest pediatric and young adult cohort ever compiled provide the first detailed, standardized, quantitative foundation of traditional and novel ECG variables.
