The term "gastrointestinal neuromuscular disease" can be interpreted variably and encompasses a spectrum of paediatric and adult conditions including achalasia, pseudoobstruction, idiopathic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, megacolon, and Hirschsprung disease.
