In Western countries, the transport of triacylglycerols by plasma triacylglycerol-rich lipoproteins (chylomicra and very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL)) accounts for approximately 100 g lipids/d and represents a major pathway in the delivery of energy to tissues.
