We observed 21 polarized background radio sources in the field of M31 at 1.365 GHz and 1.652 GHz, and determined their rotation measures (RMs). The RM data show that the regular magnetic field of the disk probably extends from about 5 kpc to 25 kpc from the center with similar structure. The RMs obtained from the polarized emission from M31 at $\lambda$6 cm and $\lambda$11 cm indicate that M31 might have a weak poloidal field in its tenuous halo. Observational features of the odd and even…

Cosmic Magnetism: Current Status and Outlook to the SKA

This paper describes the role that the Square Kilometre Array can play in studies of Cosmic Magnetism, with emphasis on one of the main tracers of cosmic magnetism, viz radio polarimetry. Radio

The Role of Magnetic Fields in Spiral Galaxies

Interstellar magnetic fields are strong: up to 25μG in spiralarms and 40μG in nuclear regions. In the spiral galaxy NGC 6946 the average magnetic energy densityexceeds that of the thermal gas.

Galactic dynamos and galactic winds

Spiral galaxies host dynamically important magnetic fields which can affect gas flows in the disks and halos. Total magnetic fields in spiral galaxies are strongest (up to 30 μG) in the spiral arms

Observing Interstellar and Intergalactic Magnetic Fields

Observational results of interstellar and intergalactic magnetic fields are reviewed, including the fields in supernova remnants and loops, interstellar filaments and clouds, Hii regions and bubbles,

Introduction to galactic dynamos

A review of galactic magnetic fields is given with emphasis on simple analytical solutions of relevant equations and detailed comparison with observations. It is shown that mean-field dynamo theory,

3.55 keV photon lines from axion to photon conversion in the Milky Way and M31

We further explore a scenario in which the recently observed 3.55 keV photon line arises from dark matter decay to an axion-like particle (ALP) of energy 3.55 keV, which then converts to a photon in

Updated constraints on dark matter (WIMP) annihilation by radio observations of M31

The present work derived the robust constraints on annihilating WIMP parameters utilizing new radio observations of M31, as well as new studies of its dark matter distribution and other properties.

Magnetic Field Evolution in Isolated and Interacting Spiral Galaxies

This doctoral thesis covers the question about the existence and evolution of magnetic fields in galaxies. The kinematic evolution of magnetic fields in isolated spiral galaxies as well as their self-

ou rnal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics

We analyze the theories of gravity modied by a generic nonderivative potential built from the metric, under the minimal requirement of unbroken spatial rotations. Using the canonical analysis, we
