The efficacy of low-dose bicalutamide (25 mg/day) in the treatment of hirsutism was investigated in this study. Hirsutism score was determined, according to a modified Ferriman-Gallwey scoring system, in 42 women with hirsutism. Each patient received 25 mg/day bicalutamide. Before therapy, multiscreen blood chemistry, hormonal analysis, and complete blood counts were performed. These parameters and hirsutism scores were repeated at 3 and 6 months during therapy. The paired Student's t-test was…
Combined Oral Contraception and Bicalutamide in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Severe Hirsutism: A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial
TLDR
The association of OCP + BC is well tolerated and significantly more effective than OCP alone in treating severe hirsutism and a combined use of the videodermoscopic index and mF&G is suggested to evaluate the effects of androgen deprivation therapy for hirsUTism.
Medical treatment of hirsutism
TLDR
In women who present with hirsutism, hyperandrogenism, and insulin resistance, insulin sensitizers are effective for the hirsUTism as well as the hyperinsulinemia, hyper androgenic activity, and infertility but there is no convincing evidence that they areeffective for hirsutanism alone.
Metabolic Syndrome Hirsutism: Diagnosis and Treatment
TLDR
In this review, the diagnosis and treatment of hirsutism were summarized with update literature and it was suggested that the diagnosis of IH is incorrect and in most patients, it is a result of either androgen excess or increased sensitivity of the hair follicles to normal levels of androgens.
A Systemic Review on Hirsutism: Recent Perspectives
TLDR
Hirsutism can be seen in women of all age groups but is more likely to occur among women with increasing age, especially after the menopause, and the increasing market growth rate suggests a growing demand.
Hirsutism: Diagnosis and Treatment
TLDR
In this review, the diagnosis and treatment of hirsutism were summarized with update literature and it was suggested that the diagnosis of IH is incorrect and in most patients, it is a result of local androgen metabolism levels of 5α-reductase enzyme activity, which suggests that the response to systemic agents is slow.

TLDR
Combination treatment of IH, including androgen suppression, peripheral androgen blockade and cosmetic methods is most effective.
The Role of Probiotics and Synbiotics on Hirsutism
TLDR
The increasing interest on insulin resistance and synbiotics indicate a potential beneficial effect on hirsutism through the management of insulin resistance.
Treatment challenges in adult female acne and future directions
TLDR
It is essential to value the negative impact on quality of life of adult female acne, independently of severity, and anti-acne drugs should be chosen in accordance with desire to be pregnant, presence of pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Targets to treat androgen excess in polycystic ovary syndrome
TLDR
The authors review the potential targets and new drugs to treat androgen excess in PCOS, a common androgen disorder in reproductive-aged women who suffer from cardiometabolic risk even without treatment.
