Due to the rise level of the Caspian Sea the ecological conditions of its eastern littoral have changed considerably and are continuing to change. For example during this investigation the water salinity fluctuated between 6-10%, whereas in 1987 minimum salinity was 10‰. A large area of land was flooded and it led to the appearance of qualitatively new biotops along with the other ecological conditions.
