The taxonomic status of six neutrotolerant acidophilic streptomycetes isolated from acidic soils in Yunnan Province, China, was established using a polyphasic approach. The morphological and chemotaxonomic characteristics revealed that the isolates belong to the genus Streptomyces. Almost complete 16S rRNA gene sequences of the isolates were determined and aligned with available corresponding sequences of representatives of the family Streptomycetaceae; phylogenetic trees were inferred using…

TLDR
A polyphasic study was undertaken to determine the taxonomic status of six strains received as Streptomyces hygroscopicus, showing that all six strains form distinct centres of taxonomic variation within the genus StrePTomyces.
Five new members of the Streptomyces violaceusniger 16S rRNA gene clade: Streptomyces castelarensis sp. nov., comb. nov., Streptomyces himastatinicus sp. nov., Streptomyces mordarskii sp. nov., Streptomyces rapamycinicus sp. nov. and Streptomyces ruanii sp. nov.

TLDR
DNA-DNA relatedness and phenotypic data showed that the two remaining strains, 'Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp. enhygrus' NRRL 3664 and Streptomyca hygro Scopicus NRRL 3111 belong to the same species as the type strain of Streptomeces rutgersensisSubsp.
Streptacidiphilus anmyonensis sp. nov., Streptacidiphilus rugosus sp. nov. and Streptacidiphilus melanogenes sp. nov., acidophilic actinobacteria isolated from Pinus soils.
TLDR
Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that all of the isolates fell into three distinctive phylogenetic clusters within the genus Streptacidiphilus of the family Streptomycetaceae, and also that Strept Acidiphilus jiangxiensis was the species closest to the three phyloclusters.
Streptomyces emeiensis sp. nov., a novel streptomycete from soil in China.
TLDR
It is concluded that strain 4776(T) (=CGMCC 4.3504(T)=DSM 41884(T)) represents a novel species of the genus Streptomyces, for which the name StrePTomyces emeienseis sp.
Streptomyces samsunensis sp. nov., a member of the Streptomyces violaceusniger clade isolated from the rhizosphere of Robinia pseudoacacia.
TLDR
The combined genotypic and phenotypic data show that strain M1463(T) should be recognized as a representative of a novel species in the Streptomyces violaceusniger clade, for which the name StrePTomyces samsunensis sp.
Streptomyces polaris sp. nov. and Streptomyces septentrionalis sp. nov., isolated from frozen soil
TLDR
Two novel actinomycetes, designated strains ZLN81T and ZLLN712T, were isolated from a frozen soil sample which was collected from the Arctic region and are concluded to represent two novel species of the genus Streptomyces.
Streptomyces synnematoformans sp. nov., a novel actinomycete isolated from a sand dune soil in Egypt.

A polyphasic taxonomic study was undertaken to establish the status of a novel actinomycete, strain S155(T), isolated from a sand dune soil in Egypt. The organism formed characteristic synnemata-like
Streptomyces radiopugnans sp. nov., a radiation-resistant actinomycete isolated from radiation-polluted soil in China.
TLDR
The taxonomic position of an actinomycete isolated from radiation-polluted soil collected in Xinjiang Province, north-west China, was determined by using a polyphasic approach and showed that it represented a distinct phyletic line that was most closely associated with three other thermotolerant organisms.
Streptomyces sudanensis sp. nov., a new pathogen isolated from patients with actinomycetoma
TLDR
Nine strains isolated from mycetoma patients and received as Streptomyces somaliensis were the subject of a polyphasic taxonomic study and it is evident that the subclade 2 strains should be recognised as a new species of StrePTomyces.

Streptacidiphilus jiangxiensis sp. nov., a novel actinomycete isolated from acidic rhizosphere soil in China
TLDR
It is evident from the genotypic and phenotypic data that the three isolates form a new species in the genus Streptacidiphilus, and the name proposed for this new species is Strept Acidiphilus jiangxiensis.
Taxonomic study of neutrotolerant acidophilic actinomycetes isolated from soil and description of Streptomyces yeochonensis sp. nov.
TLDR
It is evident that neutrotolerant acidophilic actinomycetes comprise taxonomically diverse groups within the variation encompassed by the genus Streptomyces, and it is also apparent that strain CN732T and other members of cluster 13 merit recognition as a novel species.
Streptacidiphilus gen. nov., acidophilic actinomycetes with wall chemotype I and emendation of the family Streptomycetaceae (Waksman and Henrici (1943)AL) emend. Rainey et al. 1997
TLDR
The description of the family Streptomycetaceae is proposed to be emended to account for properties shown by Kitasatospora and Streptacidiphilus species, which share a number of key characteristics and form a stable monophyletic branch in the 16S rDNA tree.
Streptomyces thermocarboxydovorans sp. nov. and Streptomyces thermocarboxydus sp. nov., two moderately thermophilic carboxydotrophic species from soil.
TLDR
The molecular systematic evidence, together with phenotypic data derived from this and previous studies, indicate that the test strains merit species status within the genus Streptomyces.
Classification of Streptomyces griseus (Krainsky 1914) Waksman and Henrici 1948 and related species and the transfer of 'Microstreptospora cinerea' to the genus Streptomyces as Streptomyces yanii sp. nov.
TLDR
A soil actinomycete, strain 80-133(T), with the non-validly published name 'Microstreptospora cinerea', was the subject of a polyphasic study designed to clarify its taxonomic status, and it is proposed that the organism should be recognized as a novel species of the genus Streptomyces.
A rapid analysis for chemical grouping of aerobic actinomycetes.
TLDR
An improved method is offered, used in the analytical systems of A2pm and whole-cell sugars, for a more simple, rapid and accurate grouping of a large number of aerobic actinomycetes by wall chemotype.
Numerical classification of Streptomyces and related genera.
TLDR
The phenetic data obtained, together with those from previous diverse studies, indicated that the genera Actinopycnidium, Actinosporangium, Chainia, Elytrosporangia, Kitasatoa and Microellobosporia should be reduced to synonyms of Streptomyces, while IntrasporangIUM, Nocardioides and Streptoverticillium remained as distinct genera in the familyStreptomycetaceae.
