A method for the analysis of platinum in Cr2O3 has been developed for amounts of Pt ranging up to 2.5 mg. The method employs the separation of activated Pt into ethyl acetate after its reduction by SnCl2. The areas under the 192 keV γ-ray from the decay of197Pt in standards and samples are used to calculate the amount of Pt in the samples by the standard comparison technique.
