Seesaw-type and low-scale models of neutrino masses are reviewed, along with the corresponding structure of the lepton mixing matrix. The status of neutrino oscillation parameters as of June 2006 is given, including recent fluxes, as well as latest SNO, K2K and MINOS results. Some prospects for the next generation of experiments are given. This writeup updates the material presented in my lectures at the Corfu Summer Institute on Elementary Particle Physics in September 2005.
Understanding and Probing Neutrinos
Abstract I summarize neutrino oscillation results and briefly discuss neutrino mass generation mechanisms, from high to low-scale seesaw, with and without supersymmetry, as well as recent attempts toExpand
Aspects of Neutrino Physics and CP Violation
A concise discussion on Majorana spinors is presented, leading to a review of the basic mechanisms of neutrino mass generation and the corresponding structure of the lepton mixing matrix, along withExpand
Progress in the understanding of neutrino properties
I briefly summarize neutrino oscillation results and discuss their robustness. I mention recent attempts to understand the pattern of neutrino mixing within various seesaw mechanisms, with or withoutExpand
A new neutrino mass sum–rule from inverse seesaw
We propose a new model based on the S4 flavor symmetry that leads to a new neutrino mass sum–rule and discuss how to generate a nonzero value for the reactor angle θ13 indicated by recentExpand
Decaying warm dark matter and neutrino masses.
TLDR
The lifetime and mass required by cosmic microwave background observations are determined so that the massive majoron provides the observed dark matter of the Universe. Expand
CP violation and neutrino oscillations
Abstract We review the basic mechanisms of neutrino mass generation and the corresponding structure of the lepton mixing matrix. We summarize the status of three-neutrino oscillation parameters asExpand
Neutrino masses, leptogenesis, and dark matter in a hybrid seesaw model
We suggest a hybrid seesaw model where relatively light right-handed neutrinos give no contribution to neutrino mass matrix due to a special symmetry. This allows their Yukawa couplings to theExpand
Fermion masses, Leptogenesis and Supersymmetric SO(10) Unification
Current neutrino oscillation data indicate the existence of two large lepton mixing angles, while Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements are all small. Here we show how supersymmetric SO(10) with extraExpand
A model of neutrino and Higgs physics at the electroweak scale
Abstract We present and explore the Higgs physics of a model that in addition to the Standard Model fields includes a lepton number violating singlet scalar field. Based on the fact that the onlyExpand
Relating quarks and leptons with the T 7 flavour group
Abstract In this letter we present a model for quarks and leptons based on T 7 as flavour symmetry, predicting a canonical mass relation between charged leptons and down-type quarks proposed earlier.Expand

Correlation between neutrino oscillations and collider signals of supersymmetry in an R-parity violating model
Motivated by the recent Super-Kamiokande results on atmospheric neutrinos, we incorporate massive neutrinos, with large angle oscillation between the second and third generations, in a scenario withExpand
Non-standard Interactions: Atmospheric versus Neutrino Factory Experiments
Abstract We consider the potential of a generic neutrino factory (NUFACT) in probing non-standard neutrino-matter interactions (NSI). We find that the sensitivity to flavour-changing (FC) NSI can beExpand
Supersymmetric origin of neutrino mass
Supersymmetry with breaking of R-parity provides an attractive way to generate neutrino masses and lepton mixing angles in accordance with the present neutrino data. We review the main theoreticalExpand
Massive neutrinos and electroweak baryogenesis
Abstract We show that certain models for neutrino masses that lead to the MSW explanation of the solar neutrino data and/or the hot dark matter component in the universe can also naturally allow forExpand
Testing neutrino mixing at future collider experiments
Low energy supersymmetry with bilinear breaking of R-parity leads to a weak-scale seesaw mechanism for the atmospheric neutrino scale and a radiative mechanism for the solar neutrino scale. The modelExpand
Supersymmetric SO10 seesaw mechanism with low B-L scale.
TLDR
It is shown that in such scenarios the B-L scale can be as low as TeV without generating inconsistencies with gauge coupling unification nor with the required magnitude of the light neutrino masses. Expand
A Theory of Lepton Number Violation, Neutrino Majorana Mass, and Oscillation
It is emphasized that the successful relation M W = M Z cos θ W does not mean that we have determined the SU(2) x U(1) transformation property of the Higgs sector. A simple modification of the HiggsExpand
Models of Neutrino Masses and Mixings
We review theoretical ideas, problems and implications of neutrino masses and mixing angles. We give a general discussion of schemes with three light neutrinos. Several specific examples are analysedExpand
Neutrino mass explanations of solar and atmospheric neutrino deficits and hot dark matter.
TLDR
This work outlines possible theoretical models which could generate these three neutrino mass matrices without adjustment of parameters and suggests two appear quite unlikely, leading to a unique solution which points to further experimental tests. Expand
