Hyper-accretion discs around black holes emit copious neutrinos and anti-neutrinos. A fraction of the emitted neutrinos convert to electron–positron plasma above the disc through the annihilation reaction ν ¯ ν → e + e − . This process may drive relativistic jets associated with gamma-ray bursts (GRB) explosions. We calculate the efficiency of energy deposition by neutrinos. Our calculation is fully relativistic and based on a geodesic-tracing method. We find that the efficiency of neutrino…

ACCRETION AND OUTFLOW FROM A MAGNETIZED, NEUTRINO COOLED TORUS AROUND THE GAMMA-RAY BURST CENTRAL ENGINE
We calculate the structure and short-term evolution of a gamma-ray burst (GRB) central engine in the form of a turbulent torus accreting onto a stellar mass black hole. Our models apply to the short
Neutrinos and gravitational waves from magnetized neutrino-dominated accretion discs with magnetic coupling
Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) might be powered by a black hole (BH) hyperaccretion systems via the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) mechanism or neutrino annihilation from neutrino-dominated accretion flows (NDAFs).
RELATIVISTIC GLOBAL SOLUTIONS OF NEUTRINO-DOMINATED ACCRETION FLOWS
Neutrino-dominated accretion flows (NDAFs) around rotating stellar-mass black holes are plausible candidates for the central engines of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We investigate one-dimensional global
NEUTRINO SPECTRA FROM ACCRETION DISKS: NEUTRINO GENERAL RELATIVISTIC EFFECTS AND THE CONSEQUENCES FOR NUCLEOSYNTHESIS
Black hole (BH) accretion disks have been proposed as good candidates for a range of interesting nucleosynthesis, including the r-process. The presence of the BH influences the neutrino fluxes and
Neutrino acceleration by bulk matter motion and explosion mechanism of gamma-ray bursts
The neutrino annihilation is one of the most promising candidates for the jet production process of gamma-ray bursts. Although neutrino interaction rates depend strongly on the neutrino spectrum, the
JET LUMINOSITY FROM NEUTRINO-DOMINATED ACCRETION FLOWS IN GAMMA-RAY BURSTS
A hyperaccretion disk formed around a stellar-mass black hole is a plausible model for the central engine that powers gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). If the central black hole rotates and a poloidal
Monte Carlo Neutrino Transport Through Remnant Disks from Neutron Star Mergers
We present Sedonu, a new open source, steady-state, special relativistic Monte Carlo (MC) neutrino transport code, available at bitbucket.org/srichers/sedonu. The code calculates the energy- and
On the gamma-ray burst – gravitational wave association in GW150914
Abstract Hyperaccreting disks around black holes are the engines that drive outflows and jets in gamma ray bursts (GRBs). The torus formed after the core collapse or a compact binary merger is
Black Hole Hyperaccretion in Collapsars. I. MeV Neutrinos
As the plausible central engine of gamma-ray bursts, a black hole (BH) hyperaccretion disk should be in a state of neutrino-dominated accretion flow (NDAF) if the accretion rate is larger than the

Neutrino-cooled Accretion Disks around Spinning Black Holes
We calculate the structure of accretion disks around Kerr black holes for accretion rates Ṁ = 0.001-10 M☉ s-1. Such high-Ṁ disks are plausible candidates for the central engine of gamma-ray bursts.
Efficiency of electron-positron pair production by neutrino flux from accretion disk of a Kerr black hole
Dominant processes of neutrino production and neutrino-induced e+e−-pair production are examined in the model of a disk hyperaccreting onto a Kerr black hole. The efficiency of plasma production is
Relativistic Effects on Neutrino Pair Annihilation above a Kerr Black Hole with the Accretion Disk
Using idealized models of the accretion disk, we investigate the relativistic effects on the energy deposition rate via neutrino pair annihilation near the rotation axis of a Kerr black hole.
Hyperaccreting Black Holes and Gamma-Ray Bursts
A variety of current models of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) suggest a common engine: a black hole of several solar masses accreting matter from a disk at a rate of 0.01 to 10 M☉ s-1. Using a numerical
Nucleosynthesis, neutrino bursts and γ-rays from coalescing neutron stars
NEUTRON-STAR collisions occur inevitably when binary neutron stars spiral into each other as a result of damping of gravitational radiation. Such collisions will produce a characteristic burst of
Hyper-accreting black holes
Hyper‐accretion disks are short‐lived, powerful sources of neutrinos and magnetized jets. Such disks are plausible sources of gamma‐ray bursts. This review describes the disk structure, the neutrino
Nuclear Composition of Gamma-Ray Burst Fireballs
We study three processes that shape the nuclear composition of gamma-ray burst (GRB) fireballs: (1) neutronization in the central engine, (2) nucleosynthesis in the fireball as it expands and cools,
